Harvey Weinstein Has Been Hit With A New Lawsuit

Ever since Harvey Weinstein was convicted of rape back in March, he’s been holed up in his prison cell in his home for the next 23 years, Wende Correctional in Upstate New York. The city of Los Angeles is trying to arrange a little out-of-state trip for Harvey to deal with additional sex crime charges, but the start date of that trip has been postponed due to COVID-19.

Whenever Harvey makes it to Los Angeles, he can rest assured that things will be an even bigger headache for him when he gets back to New York state. Because Deadline is reporting that Harvey has been hit with a lawsuit filed recently in New York by four women, all accusing Harvey of assault and rape. And one of those victims was underage when her alleged rape happened.

Deadline says that the lawsuit, filed by four anonymous women known in the filing as Jane Doe I, II, III, and IV, are suing Harvey, as well as his brother and former business partner Bob Weinstein, and the Walt Disney Corporation. The victims are naming Disney in their lawsuit, as Disney bought Harvey and Bob’s production company Miramax in 1993, and sold it several years later in 2010. Harvey and Bob went on to found The Weinstein Company in 2005. The Jane Does are seeking a jury trial, as well as unspecified damages.

Jane Doe I accuses Harvey of trapping her in his hotel room during the 1984 Cannes Film Festival. Jane Doe II, who was seventeen years old at the time of the alleged attack and an aspiring actress, accuses Harvey of raping her in 1994 in New York City. She claims that after Harvey had assaulted her, he took her ID, and told her that if she breathed a word of what happened to anyone, Harvey allegedly threatened that he would “not only make sure she never got to act in any films, but also have his associates track her down and physically harm her and her family.” As Ashley Judd and Mira Sorvino will probably tell you, that part about deep-sixing her career is less of a threat and more of a promise.

Jane Doe III claims that Harvey raped her in a hotel in New York City in 2008. Jane Doe IV accuses Harvey of assaulting her at the Venice Film Festival in 2013.

The reason Harvey’s brother and Disney have been pulled into all of this is because, according to the women who filed the lawsuit, both Bob and Mirimax’s parent company, Disney, turned a blind eye to Harvey’s behavior. The women argue in their lawsuit:

“[Harvey] had his behavior ratified or concealed by higher-ups, managers and principals.”

This has happened before. There’s no end to the accusations that everyone knew what Harvey might have been doing when he checked out of the office for a “business meeting.” Additionally, this is far from the first time Harvey has been sued over the accusation of an underage sexual assault that happened under the guise of career help. For example, last year, a former model from Poland accused Harvey of abusing her in 2002 in his New York apartment, when she was sixteen years old. She also listed his brother and Disney in her lawsuit.

Disney might be able to wash their hands of this situation, but Harvey probably won’t, even if several of the accusations in this lawsuit are decades old. Previously, the statute of limitations in New York state was five years for certain cases. In September 2019, Andrew Cuomo signed legislation that increased the statute of limitations to 20 years for second-degree rape and 10 years for third-degree rape. Deadline points out that the Child Victims Act, signed in August 2019, allows for underage victims (or victims who were underage at the time) to report abuse, regardless of the time that has passed. That means Jane Doe II, who claims she was seventeen at the time of her encounter with Harvey, is well within her rights to bring on a case, even if it happened way back in 1994. So, Harvey better screw some new tennis balls onto the feet of his walker, because it looks like his ass is probably heading back to court.

Even though Disney owned Miramax at the time of two of the accusations in this most recent lawsuit, they have released a statement saying they claim no responsibility for the disgusting vile shit the head of Miramax was getting up to.

“The Weinsteins operated and managed their business with virtual autonomy. There is absolutely no legal basis for claims against the company and we will defend against them vigorously.”

Damn, Disney really doesn’t want to be associated with any of Harvey’s alleged business. And I can see why. Sure, Disney has a reputation for fucking up kids’ lives, but not like that.
